This makes initiatives such as the <strong>Kora Heritage, Health and Cultural Centre<\/strong> all the more important. The centre provides access to life-saving technology and basic medical equipment. <\/p>\n\n<p>In the past year, we were able to show our support to a growing project run by charitable association Themba Labantu \u2013 Hoffnung f\u00fcr Menschen e.V <em>(A Future for Children and Young People)\u202f<\/em> by transporting an ultrasound imaging device to Gambia.<br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ultrasound imaging device is followed by the arrival of basic medical supplies<\/h3>\n\n<p>The device, donated by the St\u00e4dtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe Municipal Hospital), has since become a regular feature of medical care in the local area. In particular, it is routinely used in obstetrics and helps doctors to determine diagnoses and treatment. <\/p>\n\n<p>The delivery of this medical device has since been followed by another delivery: Basic \u2013 yet hugely important for the local population \u2013 hygiene supplies and laboratory supplies. These include masks, gloves and sample kits. <br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gloves, masks and more for local network of clinics<\/h3>\n\n<p>Our donation initially went to the hospital in nearby Essau, before subsequently being forwarded to a clinic in Farafenni, some 70 kilometres away (a three-hour drive through every terrain imaginable!). The hospitals lack most of the basic things that guarantee safe medical care. Our supplies protect not only the patients but also the doctors, who provide the best treatment possible in the face of lacking provisions.  <\/p>\n\n<p>We are delighted that our accessories were able to play a small part in advancing this important project, since the need in the area is so great.
